Kim Jong Un Oversees Missile Tests and New Warship Trials Amid Military Expansion

North Korea's supreme leader, Kim Jong Un, conducted  a series of missile tests and unveiled a new warship as part of its ongoing military expansion, according to the state media.

Kim Jong Un personally oversaw the launch of two strategic cruise missiles, three anti-ship missiles, and trials of a new the 5,000-ton-class destroyer named Choe Hyon.

Choe Hyon  is designed to carry multiple advanced systems, including anti-air and anti-ship weapons, as well as nuclear-capable ballistic and cruise missiles.

Kim described the development as a step towards expanding North Korea's operational reach and strike capabilities.

The officials stated that the tests include a range of weapons aimed at strengthening offensive and defensive capabilities. Among them:

  • HWASONG-11A (KN-23): A short-range ballistic missile capable destroy area equivalent to 10 football fields. Making greater damage than a conventional single-explosive payload.
  • CARBON-FIBER GRAPHITE BOMBS: Designed to disable electrical grid through short-circuits.
  • ANTI AIRCRAFT MISSILE: An effort to strengthen air defenses against superior air powers.
They also tested the maximum thrust of a new missile engine built with "low-cost materials".

Analysts suggest that the country is implementing the war lessons from the Middle East Conflict & from Russia's war against Ukraine.

North Korea has benefited before from armed conflicts abroad. It has supplied both weapons and soldiers to Russia in support of its war against Ukraine, receiving economic assistance and weapons technology in return, according to experts.

The latest tests signals North Korea's consistent focus on strengthening its military capabilities, particularly after the evolving global conflicts.

The country appears to be enhancing its strategic defense and offensive systems.
