Why Mojtoba Khamenei will not attend his fathers funeral?

Iran's Supreme Leader, Mojtoba Khamenei, will not attend the funeral ceremonies for his father, former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, due to security concerns. 

This has been officially stated by the current leader's representative in India. 

Mojtoba Khamenei, has not made a public appearance since becoming the Supreme Leader. People thought that he would attend his father's funeral, but this is not the case because Iran is taking very cautious steps to for security. 

ISRAEL PUBLICLY THREATENS MOJTOBA KHAMENEI

Israel's Defense Minister, Katz, stated that the Supreme Leader, Mojtoba Khamenei, was marked for death. He described the Iranian as good merchants trying to extract concession in negotiations, and said Israel would not allow Iran to produce nuclear weapons. 

The Foreign Minister of Iran, Abbas Araghchi, responded that, the terms of the Islamabad MoU are crystal clear and public for all to see. 

Adding that, POTUS has committed the U.S. to, muzzle in, Israel terming them 'pets'. Concluding that "If they ignore their masters, Iran will school them. Any threat against our people and leadership will receive immediate powerful response". 

Threats over the Supreme Leader have heightened tensions, as retaliation of threats are in process.

MASSIVE FUNERAL EXPECTED TO PROJECT SOLIDARITY

The assassination of Ali Khamenei has brought together the peace to a great extent. 

Many people returned to Iran to revolt against Trump's threat to destroy Iranian civilization. Somewhere or the other the martyrdom of Ali Khamenei reduced the opposition to the Islamic Revolution in Iran. The feeling of nationalism and the Islamic Revolution that took place, along with it was witnessed parallely. 

This is the reason Iran refused to step back from its right despite several attacks and warning threats. They knew that people of the country are with the government and with the IRGC and demonstrations that took place every night. 

Understand that Ali Khamenei is being taken to the Roza of Imam Hussain, in Iraq. This is a strong message in the entire Islamic world and specially in Shia Islam, indicating how high the status of Ali Khamenei has reached.

FINAL VERDICT

Since yesterday, the Defense Minister had directly threatened that Mojtoba Khamenei is on their hit list. According to the reports, security agencies fear an Israeli attack. 

Former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei's, public farewell will be on July 4 and July 5. His body will be taken to Imam Khunani's place where he observed his fast. 

Sources reveal that more than 2 crore people will attend the funeral. Iran itself has announced that people should come and bid a final farewell to its former Supreme Leader Ayatollah. 

6th July will be funeral prayer and procession in Iran, the Fatiha will be recited. 7th July will be the funeral ceremony in the city of Qom which is in Iran itself and is a significant centre of education of Shia Islam. His body will be kept there for a day. 

8th July will be funeral and farewell ceremony in Karbala and Najaf in Iraq.  The ceremonial pattern reveal beyond mourning, the ceremonies are designed to project continuity, resilience and regional influence.

Even as national mourning continues, Tehran has reaffirmed that it will not permit external access to its sensitive nuclear facilities. The position signals that Iran intends to separate diplomatic pressure from its nuclear policy despite the rapidly evolving regional security environment.

The funeral is more than a state ceremony. It is Tehran’s first major test of political continuity after a historic leadership transition—and a carefully staged signal that external pressure will not dictate Iran’s strategic posture.
